Although President Obama took quick and bold steps to close Guantanamo and withdraw from Iraq upon becoming president, The Nation‘s Katrina vanden Heuvel argues progressives must maintain pressure on the administration to move the country in a new direction. In order to do so, grassroots organizers revitalized by the presidential campaign need to work with allies within the Congress to reduce military spending and focus on revitalizing the country.
