I have been concerned lately about the ads that the US Chamber of Commerce has been running against health care reform. You are correct that both corporate money and non-profit money have the same results when applied to Congress, the radio, television and the Internet. I would go one step further and write legislation that would require that any political, religious, non-profit, corporate or civic group that wants to advertise its views on radio, TV or the Internet must submit to the Federal Communications Commission the amount that it costs to run the ad. Then they must put an equal amount of money into a fund that provides analysis of their views. This fund would be directed towards the public radio and TV stations but could be used on Public Stations where there are at least three public TV or radio stations in that community.
