The 2006 election was far from decisive on the Iraq issue, and the proper corrective is in the next election.
But, please remember also that Newsweek's nonpartisan panel of analysts pointed out that the return of 11.6 million tons of critical equipment would last at least five years under peaceful conditions.
Anyone whose proposals don't take that factor into account is living a fantasy.
