This really needs to be said. It is delicate for the industrialized countries to bring up the population issue in the context of global warming, because each person in the developing countries is responsible for so much less emissions than each person in the developed countries.

The emphasis needs to be right where the author put it--on the benefits to women and their families of women's empowerment. However, maybe the link with global warming will make more men in the developed countries pay attention to these issues. I say "men" because they are still a large majority in the political establishment.

This too-good-to-be-true technology is hard to believe, so I am finding it extremely hard to convince people to take a look at this new technology:

What I am about to tell you is independently verified by a respectable university (Rowan) and commercially available (six contracts have been signed so far). There has been a breakthrough in energy technology--a US company is able to get 200X more energy from hydrogen than it takes to get it from water.

The story was broke by Reuters last week. The company is BlackLight Power Inc and it's website is www.blacklightpower.com.

We must factor people into the climate change, because the same thinking that got us into this mess is preventing us from escaping the current trajectory. It is sad to think that a silver-bullet energy technology is available but we reject it because it is too-good-to-be-true.
