The article focuses on the decision of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to allow media conglomerates to increase their control over newspapers, radio and television stations, which has provoked public indignation among Americans. One media network would be allowed to buy television stations that can reach 45% of the national audience. The U.S. Congress aims to codify a 35% cap on national broadcast ownership and to urge antitrust regulators to stop mergers that injure media competition.
