This article presents the views of the author with regard to writers who criticize jazz musicians. Writer Stanley Crouch's accusation that white jazz critics are promoting white musicians over superior black ones is unfounded. This led to Crouch's contract with the magazine "Jazz Times" being terminated. It suggests that there exists racial friction within modern jazz as demonstrated by jazz critics and writers. This development is unfortunate for jazz and the arts community in general. There should be tolerance and democracy in jazz.
