This article presents the author's observation on Vietnam, its people and the changes taking place in the country. The author's visit to Vietnam was his first since 1972, when he was there to make a documentary film about the Vietnam War. It explains that most people in Vietnam wanted to forget the war in much the same way the Americans want to forget about it. The Vietnamese people prefer to focus their attention on the future and desire to have a warm and friendly relationship with the U.S. There is a spirit of dynamism and entrepreneurship among the Vietnamese and Western influences are becoming more evident again in the country.
