The article offers the author's opinion on the gambling habit of U.S. Republican Bill Bennett. The author comments on Bennett's confession that he had done too much gambling and that he is vowing to quit. He points out the claims by the U.S. National Council on Problem Gambling that pathological gambling is a serious social malady. He adds that such habit destroys and impoverishes families and makes practitioners and those who love them miserable. Bennett is said to have failed the people, who faced continuous temptation, yet chose not to gamble.
