The article focuses on the efforts by U.S. legislators to prevent some of the judicial nominees by President George W. Bush from being elected to position. Every Democrat politician on the Judiciary Committee voted against nominee Carolyn Kuhl, while filibusters against Miguel Estrada and Priscilla Owen have also prevailed. Nan Aron, the president of the Alliance for Justice, credits the rejection by Senate majority leader Tom Daschle of extremist judges. The author notes that the Democrats are emphasizing that they have sufficient cohesion to stop any judicial nominees.
