The article examines the kind of news pouring out in the mainstream media. It questions the "Los Angeles Times's" historic surrender of its editorial desk to its business arm. Nearly all front-page stories showed a range from the gossipy to the prurient to the outright pornographic. Of course, something that sick is bound to sell like hotcakes, so by definition "the News" was the hands-down winner of the daily tabloid sweepstakes. It is felt that the so-called free press has become so empty and so entertaining. It is believed that media provide ways of collectively seeing that can make the world a better place, or not.
