The article alleges witch hunt against organized labor. Its prime target is Teamsters president Ron Carey. Also under assault is Arthur Coia of the Laborers Union. Beyond these labor chieftains, the target is any progressive leader or radical organizer in the entire union movement. A couple of rationales are used to explain that all this is not a witch hunt but an entirely appropriate investigation into improper use of union funds to assist in Carey's 1996 re-election. Every one of the labor chiefs presents a challenge to the free reign of capital.
