This article presents views of the author who was a judge, on civilizing of media and politicians in the United States. He says that he retired from the federal bench not because his opinions were being criticized but in protest over the politicization of the federal judiciary. According to him, politicians increasingly mischaracterize judicial opinions and then use them against those who nominated, appointed or voted to confirm the judges involved. The admits that from time to time there will be judicial decisions with which many will not agree. All too often that disagreement arises from the mischaracterization of the opinion and focuses on its result rather than it's reasoning.
