This article presents information on Media Matters, a new Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) show that examines press aired a segment a few weeks ago that concluded that the various illnesses found among Gulf War veterans were all in their heads. The press had sensationalized their plight and should lay off the story. At best, the General Accounting Office report confirmed that the Media Matters segment was misleading propaganda that seemed to mesh with the rightward tilt of PBS. The show is even more suspect because it reached conclusions opposite from those made in a well-researched article by free-lancer Kate McKenna in the May issue of American Journalism Review.
