The article presents information on the U.S. policy of health insurance of children. The U.S. policy on covering kids has been about as scientific as a faith-healing party convened in the middle of a wheat field. One child out of seven, lacks health insurance. The total,10 million, grows by 900,000 a year, as employers cut back benefits they previously offered to workers' families. Every thirty-five seconds, a child loses private coverage. Behind this newfound paternalism are several obvious factors. Nine million of the 10 million uninsured children have working parents, two-thirds have incomes well above the federal poverty level.
