Weapons of Mass Delusion?

Pollitt, Katha | May 19, 2003 issue

The author criticizes Tom Friedman in justifying U.S. war on Iraq even without the discovery of weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Friedman in his column in the April 27, 2003 issue of the "New York Times," does not care if the U.S. ever finds WMD in Iraq. Bush himself said in his State of the Union address that the case for war was not so much Saddam Hussein's brutal doings as the threat he represented to the U.S., and his neighbors, as warmonger and terrorist. In the end, WMD for the government of U.S. President George W. Bush would amount to regime change.
