The value of the "Bible" has been well established in literary, historical and spiritual terms in the U.S. The PBS television series "With God on Our Side" provides ample fodder for considering the ways that, much as the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" influenced the Civil War, the Good Book has provided guidance for this era's rebelling army. "With God on Our Side" grapples with the conservative revolution since World War II that has sought to remake the U.S. into God's kingdom. The six-part series was produced by David Van Taylor for South Carolina Public Television in conjunction with the Independent Television Service.
