This article presents information on the book "Bound and Gagged: Pornography and the Politics of Fantasy in America," by Laura Kipnis. According to Laura Kipnis, the rejection of pornography is inextricably tied with maintaining social class distinctions, it is a rejection of the vulgar, the trashy, the low. Though not all pornography consumers are "lower class," Kipnis writes in "Bound and Gagged," "insofar as porn is relegated to a low thing culturally, it takes on all the associations of a low-class thing." This is why so many people who hate porn cast porn consumers as too stupid to do anything other than imitate the images before them.
