The article discusses four giant corporations that control the major television news division and entertainment state chart. Focused as its on those colossi that control the television news, this chart leaves out other giants such as Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., John Malone's Telecommunications Inc. and Sumner Redstone's Viacom Inc., none of which are telejournalistic powers. Certainly the domination of media by corporate profiteers is nothing new. The electrical power industry attacked the concept of public ownership in an astonishing campaign of lies, half-truths and redbaiting that went on from 1919 to 1934. That propaganda drive entailed the outright purchase of newspapers and the establishment of trust-oriented stations for the NBC radio network.
