The article presents information about several political events in the United States. Violence in retail establishments and workplaces is on the rise even as other crime declines. The periodical "American Family Physician" reports that since 1985 "murderous sprees" by workers, former employees and customers have increased by 200 to 300 percent. Republican governors from New Jersey to California supposedly the "safe streets" crowd have been similarly going postal, deregulating, defunding and privatizing psychiatric care for the indigent. In addition to being a politician Republican majority whip Tom DeLay is a talented man. In addition to being a politician, a former exterminator and a first rate vote counter, DeLay is also, apparently, a world-class chemist and climatologist.
