This article presents information regarding Moses Asch who founded Folkways Records with Marian Distler. stood out. What he wanted to create an unbounded documentation of folk musics, could never be a commercial hot ticket, and he knew it. Not that Asch was some sort of disembodied aesthetic cherub. His long and complex relationship with Woody Guthrie, buoyed by artistic admiration, was anchored in an unvarnished fiscal fact, Guthrie's discs and tunes were among the few in Asch's stable that made steady money.
