The article presents information about various political activities taking place in the U.S. Throughout the first of what may stretch into four long weeks of yapping, the Republican-controlled panel, led by the much-investigated, never-charged D'Amato, brought one suspicion after another before a dwindling press corps and audience. U.S. President Bill Clinton-chasers have so far presented no clear evidence of wrongdoing; often actions they decried as sinister were easily explained. The best the Republicans could manage was to show that White House aides had been in a position to do wrong. They might have made off with incriminating documents from politician Vincent Foster's office; they might have impeded the investigation into Foster's death.
