The article focuses on prevailing political conditions in the U.S. and around the world, as of June 26, 1995. Mumia Abu-Jamal, a former public radio reporter and a supporter of MOVE, was served with a death warrant from Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Ridge, setting his execution for August 17, 1995. Abu-Jamal may or may not have shot Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 198, but he and publisher Addison-Wesley are now targets of an angry campaign by Philadelphia's Fraternal Order of Police. Another development focuses on the comments made by Senator Bob Dole on gangsta rap and movie violence in Hollywood.
