Ralph Reed, executive director of the 1.5 million-member Christian Coalition, has just unveiled the contract with the American Family, an ambitious attempt by the religious right to move its agenda to center stage on Capitol Hill. For this, Reed can thank the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith (ADL) and a small but influential cadre of neoconservative Jewish activists. The ADL report concluded that the religious right's opposition to pluralism was steamrolling the First Amendment. But after months of heated public exchange between the ADL and the Christian Coalition.
