Who'll Speak for Left-Out Dems?

It is informed that Washington's Convention Center, a particularly ugly, fortresslike structure in a city filled with the repulsive neo-Mussolinian architecture of power, sits on a windswept corner roughly halfway between the White House and Capitol Hill. At Jesse Jackson's summons, a cross section of America's left-outs came to the windowless convention center seeking shelter from the arctic chill of Republican reaction and the acid rain of Democratic betrayal. The January 5-7 conference-- billed, with a nod to prevailing rhetorical fashions, as "Defending the Family: Strategies for Economic Justice and Hope"-was organized by Jackson's Rainbow Coalition.
