The author recounts a fictitious conversation she had with etiquette advisor Letitia Baldrige regarding the etiquette of martial law. She and Baldrige were sitting in a salon located in Washington, D.C. when they had their conversation. Baldrige explained that crisis etiquette goes back to basic character. She asked Baldrige's half sister LaTeesha about suspect profiling. They later discussed the U.S. military operations in Iraq.
