The article focuses on a book "Dead Right," by David Frum. Frum warns in his provocative book "Dead Right" , conservatives high spirits can be sustained only by perilous self-deception. Conservatives held the White House for twelve years. They dominated the U.S. Senate for six years, and by the end of the decade they controlled the federal courts. Yet in all that time Frum notes, not one major federal program was eliminated. Having come to power with the election of Ronald Reagan, conservatives squandered the opportunity to enact the reforms they had bellowed about for so long because they never tried.
