The article presents information on the book "Brechat & Company: Sex, Politics, and the Making of the Modern Drama," by John Fuegi. This is the first big Bertolt Brecht, the famous German playwright, biography to appear in English language since the Berlin wall came down. It could have been the first to look at him and his work without the burden of cold war attitudinizing. Brechat's financial slipperiness, sexual duplicity and political temporizing are certainly not news. Brechat was a misogynist in his youth and always a deceiver. Brechat sold his soul for the theater.
