The article reports on foreign relations between the United States and Russia. Previous meetings between Russian President Boris Yeltsin and U.S. President Bill Clinton indicates that Clinton will endorse claim to be the indispensable father of a "new, democratic and civilized Russia." The "irreconcilable opposition" considers Yeltsin as a criminal agent of Western powers who first plotted the breakup of the Soviet Union and now are plundering Russia's economy by turning it into a deindustrialized exporter of raw materials and dumping ground for excess goods. But more significant for Americans, fewer and fewer Russian democrats, once Yeltsin's hopeful supporters, see him as one of their own.
