The article discusses the role of the United Nations (UN) in international war crimes. The Secretary General of the UN, Boutros Boutros-Ghali have also proposed that the UN have a permanent military wing. They are generating criminal laws and the author is questioning their power to prosecute individuals. The UN has taken upon itself to arrest and prosecute international criminals in the absence of any international criminal laws. The setting up of the new International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTFY) is one such thing. It is done on the pretext of human right. Most of the people supporting ICTFY are not even thinking about opposing the UN. The author opines that UN should not overstep its authority.
