This article focuses on Korean war, with specific reference to the book "Uncertain Partners: Stalin, Mao, and the Korean War," by Sergi N. Goncharov, John W. Lewis and Xue Litai. Professional historians knew that some controversial issues--such as who started the Korean War and why it could not be resolved, before non-Western records became available. This book "Uncertain Partners," was written without benefit of some of the most recent revelations from Moscow. The book is a cooperative effort by a Russian, a Chinese and an American scholar to re-examine the Sino-Soviet affiance and both Chinese and Soviet complicity in the Korean War.
