This article reports on several political and economic issues. Most politicians claim the voters want a steady diet of throw-away-the-key sentences for malefactors, plus an end to welfare. The supposed crime wave in Mendocino County is as mythic as it is almost everywhere else. In another issue, it is said that Mexican resident workers are born, raised, trained and educated at Mexican expense and then come to the United States as adult production workers who toil for less and make far fewer social demands than the "native-born" Americans. Every serious economic analysis has shown that the host country is the economic gainer.
