This article presents information on the issue of minorities in Macedonia. President Kiro Gligorov, of Macedonia has gravely offended the Greeks because he talks out of the side of his mouth about a Macedonian "minority" in Greece and because his chosen name and emblems represent a historic claim on Greek territory. The language spoken in Skopje is essentially Bulgarian, which is called Macedonian for convenience, and that the most powerful political minority is led by IMRO, the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization, which historically favors a Greater Bulgaria, while the largest national minority is Albanian and Muslim, and does not care what the republic is called as long as a part of it is one day denominated as either Illyria or Greater Albania. "Impermissible interference in our internal affairs." This was how President Gligorov, in the routine tones of the former party apparatchik, described Athania's attitude to his compromise republic.
