This article presents information on the book "Don't Look Back: Satchel Paige in the Shadows of Baseball," by Mark Ribowsky. Though Ribowsky decries "the weak overall talent" of the black game, the quality of big-league white players was not that much different. What white and blackball had were celebrated superstars, such as Bob Feller, Ted Williams and Dizzy Dean, while the Negro leagues featured Smokey Joe Williams, Oscar Charleston, Judy Johnson, Ray Dandridge, Josh Gibson, Cool Poppa Bell, John Henry Lloyd and Bonnie Serrell.
