This article presents information related to political, social and economic issues. In the latest folly of China policy, the U.S. government seeks to apply a noble but narrow-and inherently hypocritical-standard of democratic behavior on Beijing before normal trade rights are renewed in June. One of the positive aspects of the Whitewater scandal is that it forces the U.S. press to talk about a subject it has failed to cover; the savings and loan scandal and the agency charged with cleaning up the mess, the Resolution Trust Co.
