The article presents information on some of the common popular beliefs in among the U.S. people even 200 years after publication of "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine. None of those beliefs can meet the ordinary standards of proof required in a court of law or in an objective scholarly investigation, but each is considered true by a sizable minority, or in some cases perhaps a majority, of the U.S. population. For example, majority of people believe that the movements of constellations and planets shape human character and influence events.
