The article focuses on the amusement parks with historical attractions. Disney's America, the theme park scheduled to open outside Washington, D.C. in 1998, will feature historical exhibits that make American Civil War and the Great Depression fun and exciting for the whole family. While Disney claims the new park will be different from anything built previously by the company," Disney's America will not be the company's first effort to turn American history into amusement-park rides. From opening day of the first Disneyland in Anaheim in 1955, Walt Disney, founder of Disneyland, made it a point to teach American history to its millions of visitors a year-primarily in "Frontierland," which celebrates the cliche that the men who wore cowboy hats embodied America's strength and virtue.
