In this article, the author presents information on various recently released motion pictures. He first focuses on "The Nightmare Before Christmas," devised by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. This film is referred as a droll animated fantasy. Due to the swelling of directorial egos, the shortness of memory of Oscar voters and the richness of the December 1994 box office, American theaters are now full of prestige films. Some of these films are: Mike Leigh's "Naked," a small-budget, limited-run picture; "Schindler's List," screenplay by Steven Zaillian, which is based on the novel by Thomas Keneally; and "Heaven and Earth," Oliver Stone's third epic movie about the Vietnam War.
