The article presents information on two television programs "The Great Depression" and "Bakersfield P.D." The documentary "The Great Depression," currently showing on PBS is produced by Henry Hampton's pioneering Blackside Inc., creators of the television program "Eyes on the Prize." Hampton has elected to bring to people's awareness the historical experience of the poor, workers and radicals in this century. Among the Fox network's rash of counterprogramming is the new season's quirkiest show, "Bakersfield P.D." in which Giancarlo Esposito plays a Washington cop who moves with his overweight son to this bastion of white redneck culture.
