The article presents information on various social issues. Conclusion is drawn of the handshake between Yitzhak Rabin and Yasir Arafat. Sociologist Erving Goffman wrote that handshaking has a variety of functions. Handshakes, he adds, are male-to-male gestures, in lieu of kissing. "The New York Times" got it exactly right when, on the eve of the recent media mega-mesh of Paramount Communications Inc. and Viacom Inc., it ran a picture of Sumner Redstone and Martin Davis above a caption reversing their identifications.
