The article focuses on two books, "No More Nice Girls: Countercultural Essays," by Ellen Willis, "Sisters, Sexperts, Queers: Beyond the Lesbian Nation," edited by Arlene Stein. Ellen Willis' "No More Nice Girls: Countercultural Essays" places current sexual climate in the context of a collective conservative impulse to police desires. Willis passionately participated in both sixties counterculture and seventies radical feminism, and her essays, written over a ten-year period, document and critically explore the pleasure-hating eighties.
