This article presents information on the book "Collision: How the Rank and File Took Back the Teamsters," by Kenneth C. Crowe. Crowe's narrative of how the rank and file, with the mighty assistance of the federal government in the U.S., reshaped the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is enlivened by insights, such as a volunteer Eddie Burke's early 1990 flight to New York for a meeting with a local Teamster leader named Ron Carey. Carey, head of Teamster Local 804, enjoyed a reputation as a clean and efficient leader among his local's 7,000 United Parcel Service workers.
