Presents information regarding the books "Always Running, La Vida Loca: Gang Days in L.A.," by Luis Rodriguez and "Latinos: A Biography of the People," by Earl Shorris. El Paso, Texas, links the authors of these two books. Although he was raised in Watts and East Los Angeles, Rodriguez, a well-known Chicano poet, editor and activist, was born in El Paso in 1954, a decade or more before Shorris, also the author of "Under the Fifth Sun," a novel about Pancho Villa, began his journalistic career there.
