Cherríe Moraga has expressed a desire to create plays that inspire a new vision while they challenge political correctness. And in many respects her new work, Heroes and Saints, produced by Brava! For Women in the Arts at San Francisco's Mission Cultural Center, does just that. She's completed two works, one about Thomas Hardy's wives and the other, Dear Master, a two-character play that takes its title from the way realist Gustave Flaubert greeted George Sand, the Romantic novelist and muse of the 1848 Revolution, in their letters.
