The article presents information on the British television series "Portrait of a Marriage," Produced by Colin Tucker for BBC and aired by PBS on Masterpiece Theater based on Nigel Nicholson's book and two other books "Vita and Harold: The Letters of Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson" edited by Nigel Nicholson and "Dont Look Round," by Violet Trefusis. The kind of cultural blindness has been much in evidence lately over three famous early twentieth-century gay figures, the diplomat Harold Nicolson, his wife, the novelist, poet and gardener Vita Sackvilie-West and Violet Trefusis, also a writer, best known as the daughter of Alice Keppel, last mistress of Edward VII and for her passionate affair with Vita in the 1920s. That these three were gay is no secret.
