This article presents information on the books, "Forty Days," by Bob Simon and "Live From Baghdad: Gathering News at Ground Zero," by Robert Wiener. Both these books, reportedly, are related to the Iraqi question and American experiences in the Middle East. On January 20, 1991, when the Gulf War was four days old, Bob Simon, a veteran Middle East correspondent for CBS News, was growing restless. Like many of his comrades, sprawled uselessly around the lobbies of Dhahran's better hotels, Simon was frustrated by Pentagon press restrictions and irritated at not being able to observe the action, unescorted, from the front lines. Simon shares experiences of his imprisonment. Wiener focuses on experiences of different journalists in the continent.
