This article focuses on the political developments in Israel since the beginning of Iraq-Kuwait crisis, 1991. The question looming over the Israeli politics is will the post-gulf war flurry of diplomatic activity produce any concrete progress toward a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir declared in a press release that he will not agree to concession of territories in exchange of peace. Ariel Sharon who is serving as Minister of Construction and Housing is a strong contender to prime ministership. Sharon is known simply as a blatant opportunist and can be trusted to continue the work of Prime Minister Shamir. A chance for movement toward a political resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict exists. All that's needed is some timely and friendly persuasion.
