All for one and none for all

The hypocrisy in the white reaction to U.S. Islamic Minister Louis Farrakhan's hate mongering is transparent. And beneath the platitudes and fatuities about Christian missionary Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream, Afro-Americans are aware of the dual standard governing public outcry. Farrakhan has been attacked so vigorously and singularly in part because he is black. He is seen by whites as a symbol embodying, and therefore justifying, their fears of a black peril. Blacks have come to his defense mainly because he is black and perceived to be a victim of racially inspired defamation, he gets points in principle for saying things that antagonize whites.
