The article reports on recent socio-political developments during 1991. Salan H. Salman, a political refugee from Iraq who sought asylum in the U.S. is now a legal resident. He sued Pan American World Airways when it barred him from its unfriendly skies in violation of the U.S. Federal Aviation Act and various civil rights laws. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, U.S. President George Bush proposes to cut spending on poor people by $760 million, adjusted for inflation.
