The article presents information on Israeli-Palestinian conflict. After three years of struggle and no significant movement toward ending the occupation, the Palestinians are frustrated and hurting. One of their responses has been a series of brutal knife attacks against Israeli civilians inside Israel, particularly in Jerusalem and Greater Tel Aviv, carried out by members of the fundamentalist Hamas movement from the occupied territories. The Israeli response is anger, cries of "kill the Arabs" and fear. The schism between Israelis and Palestinians is growing. The two communities found themselves on opposite sides of the grandstand when the Persian Gulf crisis erupted.
