Racing Into 2004: The Primaries Are in Full Swing

The aticle explores issues concerning the 2004 presidential elections in the U.S. According to Steve Cobble, progressives can still have an impact on the nomination battle, but only if they recognize because of the schedule changes that have dramatically quickened the pace of presidential politics. It notes that polling data and interviews with several activists in early primary and caucus states suggest that of the announced candidates, John Kerry and Howard Dean are drawing the most attention from progressives. Some of the Democratic candidates for the election are Kerry, Senator John Edwards and former U.S. House minority leader Dick Gephardt.
